Jemma Marsh, MSc Vet. Phys. MNAVP
EQUINE - Somerset
Jemma has ridden since a young age and has experience competing in many equine disciplines. As a result she can understand a rider’s description of a problem they are having with regards to a particular dressage move or specific schooling/jumping issue. Jemma was the resident Veterinary Physiotherapist at two separate polo clubs – Ashfield’s (Essex) and Rugby (Warwickshire) and is therefore experienced in dealing with the physical challenges/problems encountered by competition/athletic horses.
Jemma’s commitment to education means she is just as happy providing a talk to her local pony club or riding club, as she is lecturing and examining on the MSc Veterinary Physiotherapy course at Harper Adams University where she is an associate lecturer. Jemma also sits on the Executive Committee for The National Association of Veterinary Physiotherapists (NAVP) which keeps her at the forefront of industry developments.

Helena Carruthers MSc PgD MMath (hons) MNAVP MRAMP
Helena is based on the outskirts of Edinburgh. She qualified as a Veterinary Physiotherapist in 2014, completing her PgD in Veterinary Physiotherapy at Harper Adams University. She worked independently, with both equine and canine patients, before helping to set up and establish the Royal (Dick) Edinburgh Physiotherapy Assessment & Intensive Rehabilitation (REPAIR) centre in 2017, where she is employed as a Veterinary Physiotherapist. The REPAIR centre is situated in the Hospital for Small Animals, at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies and provides physiotherapy and hydrotherapy for both in-patients and out-patients of the hospital.
Before qualifying as a Veterinary Physiotherapist, Helena gained her first degree in Mathematics and post-graduate qualifications in Equine Science and Anaesthesia Practice. Her background has led her to have interests in pain management, biomechanics and using outcome measures to promote our understanding of veterinary physiotherapy. She particularly enjoys working with post-surgical cruciate repair cases, spinal cases and patients with chronic osteoarthritis.
